ARTIST___ STATEMENT

I have the need to create and sewing, painting, gardening, color, imagination and the world that God has made--the sky, ground and sea--all collide to make me want to make something in homage to it. I love the use of shapes in various forms, people who look like me, and knowledge of all kinds. These present creative outlets for me to explore.

BIO

I first knew I liked to draw as a child on my porch with other children in the neighborhood. I saw my mother and grandmother sew clothes and quilts and took it for granted. When I took home economics in middle and high school sewing was a homemaking skill and allowed me to have more clothes. As I got older I liked the fact that I was creating something that no other person had. Quilting and painting became an outlet when my daughter was preparing to go off to college. After a few classes and a few retreats I knew that I had found what really was food to my soul. I now wake up wondering what I will create, finish or start. I love the creation part of it!
